About the role

Define Technology Strategy. Shape Enterprise Architecture. Drive Transformation at Scale.

We're looking for an experienced and influential Principal Enterprise Architect to join Group IT at Zellis. This is a fantastic opportunity for a strategic technology leader who enjoys shaping future-state architecture, influencing investment decisions and helping organisations navigate complex transformation journeys.

As the senior architecture authority across Group IT, you'll own and evolve our enterprise architecture capability, ensuring technology strategy, architecture standards and major investment decisions align with business outcomes and our long-term operating model. Working across Zellis, Moorepay and Benifex, you'll play a pivotal role in enabling growth, simplification and innovation across the organisation.

Reporting to the Director of IT Strategy & Architecture, you'll partner with senior business and technology leaders to provide architectural direction, governance and assurance across key strategic initiatives. You'll help create the roadmap for our future technology landscape while ensuring architecture remains a practical enabler of delivery rather than a barrier to progress.

What you'll be doing

Enterprise Architecture Leadership

  • Own and continuously evolve the Group IT enterprise architecture framework, principles, standards and governance approach.
  • Develop and maintain target-state architecture roadmaps across business capability, applications, data, integration and technology domains.
  • Ensure architecture decisions support business strategy, operational effectiveness and long-term value creation.
  • Establish clear, pragmatic and proportionate governance that enables effective decision-making.

Transformation & Technology Simplification

  • Lead technology rationalisation activities and technical debt governance.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify the technology estate and improve efficiency.
  • Translate architectural challenges into actionable roadmaps and improvement plans.
  • Support platform consolidation, modernisation and large-scale transformation initiatives.

Mergers, Acquisitions & Integration

  • Provide enterprise architecture leadership for mergers, acquisitions and integration activities.
  • Conduct technology due diligence and develop target-state architecture options.
  • Define transition roadmaps that support business integration and growth objectives.
  • Help ensure successful alignment of systems, data and technology capabilities across the Group.

Skills & experience

What we're looking for

We're seeking a strategic thinker and collaborative leader who can balance business priorities, technology opportunities and long-term architectural direction in a complex, fast-paced environment.

You'll ideally bring:

  • Significant experience in Enterprise Architecture, Technology Strategy or Senior Solution Architecture within a complex organisation.
  • A proven track record of aligning business strategy and operating models with technology roadmaps.
  • Experience establishing and maturing architecture governance, standards, principles and review forums.
  • Strong cross-domain knowledge spanning applications, data, integration, cloud, security, infrastructure and workplace technologies.
  • Experience supporting large-scale transformation programmes, technology rationalisation initiatives or platform modernisation projects.
  • Knowledge of M&A integration, technology consolidation or complex enterprise change environments.
  • Strong commercial awareness and a practical approach to balancing innovation, risk and value delivery.
  • Professional certifications such as TOGAF, BCS, ITIL or cloud architecture qualifications are welcomed, although demonstrated impact and practical experience are considered equally important.
