About the role

The role

Moorepay is an Apax-backed payroll and HR software business, part of Zellis Group, growing and building the marketing engine to grow faster. Payroll is our largest revenue line and where competition is fiercest. Our FY27 payroll launches, our competitive response and every asset a payroll buyer sees need one owner who knows that buyer better than anyone in the building.

This role owns the payroll pillar end to end: the propositions by segment, the launches that land them, the competitive response in live deals, and every payroll asset a seller or buyer touches. Payroll is our flagship proposition and what the company is mostly known for, so you’ll play a pivotal role in the success of the full portfolio.

You will own launch readiness and post-launch review for payroll launches; payroll value propositions and messaging by segment; a complete, current payroll asset set, including the buyer's ROI and business case; the payroll narrative and certification bar Sales is trained against; and the direction for cross-sell from payroll into HR, Benefits and WFM: which customers, which proposition and why.

We work on a hybrid basis, with regular time together in our Manchester office. We can be flexible on the frequency of office attendance depending on where you’re based.

What you will own

Positioning & messaging

  • Payroll value propositions by segment and buyer type, messaging frameworks and personas for payroll buyers, written inside the function's positioning direction.
  • AI applied to payroll propositions within our claims guardrails: point of view first, product claims never ahead of product reality. Keep the payroll evidence behind every claim so it feeds the function's claims governance.

    Launch & go-to-market
  • Payroll launch plans with Product, coordinated end to end, internal readiness, the campaign briefs for the Campaigns & Lifecycle Manager and Demand Generation to build and run, and a post-launch review against plan.

    Assets & enablement
  • Every payroll asset, written and kept current by you: web copy, pitch decks, battlecards, objection handling, demo scripts, discovery guides, RFP and security content, and the buyer toolkit, including ROI and business case models. Volume content comes through Demand Generation and our agency, briefed by you.
  • Version control for the payroll asset set: one current version of everything, with out-of-date material retired so Sales never uses it.
  • Set the standard for product marketing assets: the payroll set is the model the rest of the team follows.
  • The payroll narrative, certification bar and assessment content that Sales Enablement trains against.
  • Deal support on strategic opportunities.

    Competitive & customer insight
  •  Payroll competitive response and deal-level competitive input, with every claim labelled by its evidence.
  • Turn findings from our win/loss partner and payroll customer insight into changes to messaging, assets and propositions.
  • Bring payroll customer and market evidence into Product's roadmap decisions, with a clear recommendation, not just the data.
  • Maintain payroll competitor profiles and insights, tracking competitor pricing, packaging and messaging.
  • Run payroll buyer research, including interviews, to keep personas and propositions evidence-based.

    Growth & commercial inputs
  •  Set the direction for payroll adoption, cross-sell into HR, Benefits and WFM, and tier migration: which customers, which proposition, which message and why, based on your product and customer knowledge. The Campaigns & Lifecycle Manager builds and runs the campaigns and nurture; you make sure they deliver the intent.
  • Packaging input and evidence to the Head of Product Marketing, and business cases for new payroll propositions.
  • Accountancy channel at maintenance level only: keep practice-facing payroll messaging and assets current.

    Measurement
  • Report on payroll performance: launch results against plan, competitive win rate on payroll deals, and how much cross-sell activity turns into revenue, using the data provided by key partners like Marketing Operations, Finance and Performance Marketing.

Skills & experience

Who you are

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification, ideally in marketing, business or product.
  • 3+ years of product marketing experience in B2B software; ideally in UK payroll, finance, accounting or HR software, or regulated B2B software sold to finance or HR buyers.
  • Strong understanding of business, finance, customer and commercial SaaS metrics, terminology and KPIs and a keen sense of how your product marketing can positively impact them.
  • Comfortable with quantitative and qualitative research and data analysis, value proposition development, opportunity sizing, and project management.
  • Inquisitive, great at building relationships, proactive, and excellent communicator who can manage varied workload to achieve multiple objectives.
  • Hands-on: you set the strategy and write the assets yourself, without a full production team behind you. You run your own launches: plans, dependencies and dates, without a project manager behind you.
  • You've built value propositions by segment and persona from research, not assumption.
  • You know the commercial SaaS metrics and how your work moves them.
  • You've used win/loss and customer evidence to change what Sales says and what Product builds.
  • You've marketed tiered software and services side by side.
  • You can hold a room of sellers and a room of engineers in the same week.

Useful, not essential

  • Positioning AI products where the evidence bar is high.
  • Accountancy or bureau channel exposure.
  • Packaging and tier design.

You must have the right to work in the UK.
